Manufacturers produce -- manufacture -- products, which are then sold to distributors, or dealers who then sell to the retailer. It is possible that the Manufacturer would also be a Vendor and sell products directly to the retailer. On reason for tracking data at this level is to have the one item by one manufacturer and the one item is sold by multiple Vendors.
